In a bid to encourage ownership and participation, the government will introduce new laws for the media industry.
The cross ownership law and the core location laws are expected to be introduced in the November session.
Communications Minister and Information Technology, Jimmy Miringtoro, said new players have entered the television market, competing with a nationally owned company.
A question was raised about the future of Kundu 2 TV, now that the state has acquired EMTV television station through Telikom PNG.
The Communications Minister said these two television stations are not competing, however complementing each other, and are are functioning according to the laws that govern them.
He said while Kundu 2 broadcasts free information, EMTV is a commercial station making money for Telikom PNG.
Minister said two legislations will be introduced in parliament to have greater access to Papua New Guinea’s to own shares in the media companies.
