By Julie Badui Owa – EMTV News, Lae

The Metropolitan Chief Superintendent has ordered a step-up in Police Operations apart from their normal routine duties.

This is to ensure that the public feel safe this Christmas period with the police presence.

Lae’s Metropolitan Chief Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie Jnr said the step-up operation will include more foot beats into settlements and random road blocks.

The road blocks in the city by the police started on Monday this week.

Mr. Wagambie said police will be patrolling both on foot and vehicles in busy areas to clamp down on petty and serious crimes.

Wagambie has warned the public to take necessary precautions when moving about.
