Kouza Raises Questions on Universities Resuming Classes

Member for Lae, Loujaya Kouza, during question time in parliament today asked the Minister for Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology to update the house on the resumption of universities and the current efforts for reconciliation between Enga and Southern Highlands students.

Newly appointed minister Francis Marus responded saying that governors of both provinces have started talks before reconciliation occurs at Lae’s University of Technology (Unitech).

Kouza also asked if the government had looked into how students will be living on campus after structures like Unitech’s mess had been burnt.

Minister Marus assured the house that the ministry had talked with the universities and the necessary structure will be in place.

He also told the house that the University of Goroka had resumed and Unitech and the University of PNG will soon follow.
