Lae MP, Loujaya Kouza, has joined the Triumph Heritage Empowerment (THE) party.
THE and Opposition leader, Don Polye, has welcomed her into both THE and the other coalition parties which currently make up the PNG opposition.
The Lae MP signed necessary the papers to give effect to her decision to team up with THE, and see her leave the ruling government party lead by Peter O’Neill.
This brings to five the number of THE party members now in the opposition, and a total of ten opposition MPs, with many more expected to join in the coming weeks.
“My strongest belief is that her joining our party is not just aligning with a leader but she has got strong values, quality leadership, integrity and a lot of credibility,” Polye said.
“She is not just as a professional person but she has got the credentials which have very high and more importantly as a leader who has upright principles to develop a high level of leadership culture in PNG”.
Kouza said she would continue to work closely with the Morobe Governor, Kelly Naru, and Bulolo MP and Deputy Opposition Leader, Sam Basil, in addressing Morobean issues along with other issues of national interest.
The Lae MP said the reason behind the alignment was not on pushing for regional issues but also national issues.
“THE party alliance is the way to move on to address issues in Lae and elsewhere in PNG,” she said.
Kouza added that she was confident of promoting the rights of indigenous people, their equity and royalty issues, along with adding that corruption cannot be handled alone but through a gender balance.
