Arts, Culture and Tourism Minister, Boka Kondra has apologized for not attending the Highlands satellite venue official opening, in Mount Hagen today.
The Minister wasn’t able to join the celebration, due to bad weather conditions that affected the flight to Mt. Hagen this morning.
EMTV news journalist, Fabian Hakalits was also on this flight.
Mr. Kondra and the delegation were on an Air Niugini PX 180 flight this morning that was unable to land at Kagamuga Airport, Mt. Hagen in the Western Highlands Province.
The flight diverted back to Port Moresby.
According to the captain, bad weather conditions and excessive cloud cover was experienced in Mt. Hagen.
The aircraft refilled and made a second attempt after clearance was issued by airport authorities, but still faced the similar problem.
The Highlands satellite venue opening proceeded with Western Highlands Governor, Paias Wingti, officiating the event.
Meanwhile, a contingent from New Caledonia and Solomon Islands are already in Mount Hagen. Other Melanesian countries have also travelled to Alotau, Kokopo and Wewak.
