Kilakila Secondary Students Assist WNB Flood Victims

by Quinton Alomp – EM TV, Port Moresby

As physical infrastructure in West New Britain collapses, the need to cloth and feed the people is also arising.

West New Britain Governor, Sasindran Muthuvel said it’s now a humanitarian issue as food gardens and oil palms are under water and houses’ roofs were ripped off by strong winds.

Today, staff and students from Kilakila Secondary School in Port Moresby donated 12 secondhand bales and K2000 cash assistant to the flood affected people of West New Britain province.

Kilakila school Academic Principal, Saju Francis said such charity donations is what the school encourages students to inherit.

“Charity begins at home,” is what the principal smilingly said.

The students organise this charity with partnership from community policing and Badili Clothing, a major second hand clothing retailer in Port Moresby.

Governor Sasindran Muthuvel was pleased with the students saying WNB province has no association with the school but they have shown a “big heart” to the people of WNB.

Air Niugini is willing to transport cargoes to Hoskins but how soon these clothing bales will arrive in Kimbe is what the Governor is still concerned about.
