Kemish support PM’s call to transform Asylum centre from temporary to permanent

During Prime Minister’s visit to Manus, Australian High Commissioner tPNG Ian Kemish supported Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s call to transformthe temporary Asylum processing center at Lombrum, into a permanent regional center.

Mr Kemish said this mover will provide more job opportunities for the people of Manus.

“The direction is a permanent processing facility that will require construction which will involve employment that will require staffing and contractual work. I thinkthere is plenty of benefit in that sense to come for Manus Island and I’m very very happy about that and I believe you should be too,” said Kemish.

Currently, there are one hundred and sixty Papua New Guineas employed atthe center; sixty one ofthem are locals.
