Kari’s Response to Critics

By Raphaella Kaore – EM TV, Port Moresby

Papua New Guinea’s Commonwealth gold medalist, Steven Kari brushed aside critics, and responded to comments made by Oceania Weightlifting Federation General Secretary, Paul Coffa on his decision not to return for training in New Caledonia.

Kari said he made two attempts to contact Mr. Coffa for his return to the training institute, but was unable to, because of a misunderstanding.

Papua New Guinea’s 21 year old Commonwealth Gold Medallist, Steven Kari, today cleared the air on comments, made by Oceania Weightlifting Federation General Secretary, Paul Coffa.

EM TV caught up with Kari at the Hanuabada Weightlifting Club during his training session. Kari claimed in a time span of two weeks, he attempted calling Coffa several times, but was unattended to.

Due to the negative response, Kari has been training at the Hanuabada weightlifting club under Coach Douglas Mea, and is focused and looking forward to the Pacific Games in July. He is happy to train on home ground, and will prove wrong the critics labelled against him.

It’s a minor issue, Kari says, and will not let him down, setting eyes on wining Gold in the Pacific Games.
