Kari Back In Training

Despite not attending the 2016 Olympic games this year, 23 year old Steven Kari from Hanuabada village, is determined to go further and has put himself back into training mode.

Steven, who was disappointed of not making it Rio, has now set his eyes on the 2018 Commonwealth Games, hosted by Australia, to defend his title.

Steven, who started his training last month, said with hard work, determination and motivation, as well as the support from his family, he is willing to give all he has, and that there is nothing to lose.

Stevens’ father, Toua Kari, said Steven will be supported all the way through, and is making sure Steven is heading in the right direction, as he prepares for his international tournaments.

But, Steven only has two years to work hard and put himself in a position where he is ready to defend his title, in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia.

Steven said, he makes use of the old facility that helped him become a champion, and also training other young and upcoming weightlifters.
