PNG Karate Team Prepares For Mini Pacific Games

Gold medal winner, Nigel Bana, who was the victor in the 60-kilogram Division for PNG in the 2015 Pacific Games.

And Bana is hoping to do it again.

He is busy training with others who are also hoping to compete in this year’s Mini Pacific Games that start in early December. While the team is yet to be announced, these athletes are training four days-a-week, two-hours-every-day.

While Nigel Bana is focused on the Mini Games, he’s also looking forward to his second degree black belt event in Australia, which is also in December.

He said he is ready for the challenge, having spent the time since the Pacific Games training and studying all aspects of karate.

Nigel holds a black belt in the martial arts.

He said the aim is to get everyone ready to be selected for the Mini Pacific games.

He says teaching the correct moves and techniques are important but the most important is self-control. The team will named just a few weeks before the Games kick off.
