This year, Kama was recognised amongst the many nominees for the 2016 Commonwealth Pacific Young Award and has been awarded the Regional Winner for the 2016 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work.

Kama was honoured to receive the award, presented by Queen Elizabeth II.

He was recognised for the establishment of the Kama Scholarship Organisation, a non-governmental organisation that has over the past three years provided scholarships to disadvantaged high school students in Simbu province.

The organisation has not only supported the disadvantaged children with scholarships but has helped schools with school items such as computers.

This has helped many students receive another opportunity to sustain their lives for a better future.

Apart from this award, Kama has also been recognised and awarded for his leadership, not only in Papua New Guinea but on a global scale.
