National Alliance Party Candidate Peter Isoaimo won the Bi-Election for Kairuku Hiri Open Seat with 20, 792 votes.
He won with a difference of over 300 votes, ahead of the former member and Peoples National Congress Party candidate Paru Aihi.
Isoaimo was declared winner last night at the Institute of Public Administration after the 20th elimination round.
A total of 22 candidates contested this by election.
The seat was left vacant after former member Paru Aihi’s win was disputed in court.
Being the petitioner, Peter Isoaimo said, he was confident of winning.
His supporters from all over Port Moresby and Central province gathered at his Gordons residence to celebrate his victory.
Isoiamo thanked his people for showing their trust in him through the ballot papers.
With only 16 months left before the next election, the new member is already speaking of securing funds from the District Development Authority to fund road projects in his electorate.
