K7 Million Fund Scandal

The K7 million paid bythe national Government tothe Palgei Timber Rights Purchase Agreements investment in 2012 has turned into a scandal between different beneficiaries.

The release ofthe K7 million payment for the leasing of land has caused many inconveniences amongthe Palgei and Jimi clansman.

Genuine beneficiaries fromthe Milma Timber Rights Purchase from Jimi electorate are concerned that whilethe former Public Curator, Mr Pololi, is in court proceedings, payments have been halted.

Chairman of Milma TRP Peter Napil Kina saidthe court case is only for the Palgei clan and not Milma.

He said based onthe records benefits must be paid directly tothe next of kin as legal landowners.

Meanwhilethe Chairman of Palgei TRP, Mark Steward, has voiced that individuals claiming to be beneficiaries should stop making allegations against him for misusingthe funds.

The new public curator is committed to take all necessary action to recoverthe balance ofthe K7 million payout.
