Mammogram Services now at Pacific Private Hospital

PORT MORESBY: Paradise Private Hospital is now in possession of mammogram machine, thanks to the generous don’tion from the Poroman Foundation.

The machine will enable subsidised breast screening for women.

The foundation embarked on its mission early this year to provide a new machine, firstly by hosting a breast cancer breakfast at the Holiday Inn where more than K57,000 was raised.

The foundation also conquered Mt. Wilhelm with four doctors from Paradise Private Hospital to bring further awareness regarding breast cancer. The issue has become a national concern with increasing statistics of women being diagnosed.

The partnership with Pacific Private allowed for not only the purchase of the machine, but also subsidised check-ups for women requiring use of the service.

Each machine costs around K300,000, with only two currently in the country. With such limited resources available, this unfortunately cannot support the female population in Papua New Guinea.

Breast Cancer is increasingly becoming one of the top killers of women in PNG, with breast screening essential to saving lives.
