Juffa slams government for giving tax exemptions to companies

Governor for Oro and former customs commissioner Gary Juffa has slammedthe government for giving tax exemptions to multi million kina companies.

He wants a policy formulated that will encourage smalPNG businesses to thrive. Sayingthey should bethe ones with tax exemptions.

Mr Juffa directed his question to Treasurer Don Polye. He made reference to certain developers taking tax holidays while ordinary Papua New Guineas continue to be highly taxed.

He said he wants to see a tax policy that will encourage more home grown businesses to flourish.

He also spoke aboutthe tax on retirement allowances to be done away with. He said he was willing to give his expert advice for free on a policy review.

Treasurer Don Polye’saidthere will be an independent board to look into a review.
