Judge wants some petitions to be heard in Provincial National Courts

The Judge hearing election petitions in the Waigani National Court, Justice Collin Makail wants some of the matters to be heard in the provincial National Courts.

Justice Makail was referring to the case of ousted Lagaip-Pogera MP, Philip Kikala against the sitting MP and the Electoral Commission, yesterday.

Justice Makail said the Enga province has a National Court, and a residential judge, who can hear the case in the province.

He said as leaders the parties must manage their tribesmen and respect the rule of law.

He said the people of the electorate deserve to know the results without any more delays.

The trial date is set for Monday 7 January 2013, for four weeks.
