Staff ofthe Department of Commerce &Industry gthered yesterday to withnessthe official handover-takeover ceremony oftheir newly appointed Secretary John Andreas.
Mr. Andreas took overthe reins from acting Secretary Gerard Dogimab, following his appointment early this month bythe National Executive Council.
Atthe conference, Mr. Andreas said he believed his appointment was based on merit and he aimed to deliver without fear or favor.
The minister’s conference room was filled with staff ofthe department asthey bid farewell to outgoing acting secretary Gerard Dogimab and welcomedthe new Secretary John Andreas.
Mr. Dogimab described his seven months inthe acting secretary’s post as fruitful and was confident thatthe new secretary would takethe department forward.
New secretary Mr. Andreas said his predecessor had given him a brief and progress report of wherethe department was at and said it was a good starting pointowhere Dogimab had put in place a good working structure.
Minister Maru who joinedthe gthering later, on returning from parliament thanked Dogimab for his invaluable contribution tothe department and he also outlined his expectations for a way forward withthe new secretary.
A separate farewell function has been organslied for Mr. Dogimab, marking his retirement and bringing a closure to a career spanning over thirty years.
