Investigations into K1.2 million robbery begins

Police are investigating the K1.2 million Robbery that happened at Jackson’s Airport in Port Moresby, yesterday.

It is believed that five men were involved in this robbery however suspects are yet to be arrested.

The robbery happened when officers of a named company where about to transport the money on a chartered flight.

Police say a stolen vehicle was used in the getaway.

The robbers held them up and took off with K1.2 million in cash. The money was for the company’s operations in Western province.

Meanwhile, NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Ben Turi urged business houses and companies to engage police escort when transferring huge sums of money.

“It is important that companies who wish to transport large sum of monies inform police, it is so police can provide escort, Turi said.
