Inmates Skills Training

Administrators at the Buimo Prison in Lae are working to make their prison rehabilitation program effective.

Inmates and Correctional Service (CS) officers from Buimo will engage in skills training at the Missionary Training College and Academy in Lae.

This is part of a partnership program between the PNG government and the church.

12 detainees and two CS officers from Buimo have enrolled to take up the training.

The detainees were registered under the CS Detainee Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services Programme.

The two CS officers will attend trainings at the college and supervise the 12 prisoners.

The skills training is provided free of charge.

Director for Missionary Training College and Academy, Fabian Peter, said the college is happy to assist these detainees to start a new life after prison.

The 12 prisoners and the two CS officers will begin classes tomorrow.
