The parliaments of Papua New Guinea and Queensland, Australia, continue to carry out twinning arrangements.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both parliaments exchange information of common interest and provide much-needed training to enhance the work of the speaker\u2019s office.<\/span><\/p>\n

Queensland parliament speaker Fiona Simpson and her parliamentarians met with Papua New Guinea parliament speaker Theo Zurenuoc yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n

They discussed general issues, work, and politics among others.<\/span><\/p>\n

During their stay in the country, the delegation will observe the parliament session this week.<\/span><\/p>\n

Under the terms of agreement, the parliaments of Papua New Guinea and Queensland will actively work towards developing friendly relations through the exchange of information regarding work and common interests, and regular dialogue on training and capacity-building.<\/span><\/p>\n

The agreement also ensures regular meetings and dialogue between representatives of both parliaments at conferences, seminars and other public forums that address issues of common interest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each parliament will appoint a liaison officer for the purposes of these agreement proposals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The liaison officers will also be responsible for keeping the Pacific and Australian regional secretaries of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association informed on developments in relation to this agreement.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
