{"id":242189,"date":"2025-12-18T16:41:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T06:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/emtv.com.pg\/?p=242189"},"modified":"2025-12-18T16:41:04","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T06:41:04","slug":"concerns-raised-over-daru-road-drainage-constructions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/emtv.com.pg\/concerns-raised-over-daru-road-drainage-constructions\/","title":{"rendered":"CONCERNS RAISED OVER DARU ROAD DRAINAGE CONSTRUCTIONS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Concerns have been raised over the drainage design of the ongoing Daru Town Road construction following heavy rainfall that caused flooding in several areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A concerned resident of Daru, who asked to remain anonymous, said the recent rain has exposed serious engineering problems, especially along Cameron Road where construction is underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith the heavy rainfall we are experiencing in Daru, residents living near the construction sites are badly affected,\u201d the resident said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that the drains built along the road are too small and unable to handle water pressure from surrounding areas, resulting in frequent flooding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have a real engineering problem at hand. Picture supplied.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The resident added that overflowing drains have flooded homes and affected daily activities, while several business houses have also suffered losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf this issue is not fixed, it will continue to happen every time it rains heavily,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is now calling on authorities to step in and address the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSomeone in authority needs to make a call on the contractor and the project management team.
