Hunters Forge Partnership With Brisbane Broncos

by Dion Kombeng – EM TV Sports, Port Moresby

As the 2016 Rugby League season draws closer, the PNG Hunters have forged a partnership with NRL club, the Brisbane Broncos.

The news of the partnership comes as a boost to the team, as they prepare for the coming season of the Intrust Super Cup.

The partnership between the Hunters and Broncos will see PNG coach, Michael Marum, spend a week under NRL master coach, Wayne Bennett, next month.

In an interview with former Kumuls coach, Bob Bennett, he told Radio Australia’s Pacific Beat that his brother was happy to host the Hunters.

However, he did rule out any possibility of any permanent PNG role for his brother, saying that Wayne is too busy and it just wouldn’t be possible.

The agreement with the Hunters and Kumuls will see the Hunters use Broncos facilities as their training base, when they travel to Queensland to play their Intrust Super Cup matches next season.

The last two years have been massive for the Hunters, and the current opportunities being presented to the team, are good signs for the team to progress in the coming season.
