High Performance Centre of Excellence Sets Standard

The relocation of the High Performance Centre of Excellence formally High Performance Training Centre from Boroko to Taurama Aquatic Center may well be for short-term.

Ministers for sports Justin Tkatchenko says K30 Million has been allocated to build a new High Performance Centre of Excellence to cater for world class athletes in the country and in the Pacific.

The High Performance Centre of excellence will be located temporarily at the Taurama Aquatics Centre but at the end of the day the Association needs a place that caters for all the sporting needs.

With that the sports ministry is currently developing a design that has been going through consultation with HPCE director, Aaron Oslop, and various sporting bodies to ensure that the newly planned High Performance training centre is that of high standard.

High Performance Director, Aaron Oslop, says through the success of the business model that the High Performance Centre in Port Moresby was able produce during the Pacific Games there are no plans of expansion.

The project once completed will be equal to that of Australia or anywhere else in the world and will be used as the sporting hub for PNG athletes and the Pacific.
