Hela farewells Chief, Late Andrew Wabira

The late Andrew Wabiria was described a faithful leader who served with distinction and pride in what he believed in. Tributes poured in for this man who championedthe fight for the new Hela Province.

The provincial government contributed K300, 000.00 towards his funeral expense.

Hela’s chief, Andrew Wabiria passed away onthe 23rd of January of Heart failure. His body was repatriated back to his home province last Friday.

During his funeral service, his son Andreas Wabiria described his fther as a faithful man.

All members of parliament from Hela Province were present for the service and praised him for his works in establishingthe new province.

Family and friend of expatriates he worked with also attended this service held to celebrate his life.

The late Andrew Wabiria was a member ofthe House Assembly from 1972 to 1974 when he first moverdthe motion for Hela to be separated from Southern highlands.

Transport Minister Francis Awesa representedthe government ofthe day and conveyedthe Prime Minister’s condolences tothe family of late Wabiria.

The late Wabiria was to rest at a location between Tari and Koroba for the whole Hela Province to see.
