Health, Police and Customs combine to fight illegal medicine imports

The Department of Health together with PNG Customs Services and Royal PNG Constabulary signed a Memorandum of Understanding.

Under this MOU they will work together to address the issue of illegal sales, manufacturing and importing of medicine in the country.

The commitment was made during the Pharmaceutical Services Standards Inspection Workshop yesterday.

Meantime, 23 pharmaceutical inspectors were presented Certificates of Appointment during the closing of the three day pharmaceutical inspectors’ workshop.

They are now certified to perform inspection regarding the legality of supply of medicine in their provinces.

The pharmaceutical inspectors were sworn in by a lawyer from the Department of Health.
