A major hardware outlet opened its doors in Port Moresby today.
Haus Depot a branch of Hardware Haus also introduced its do-it-yourself concept to a curious public.
Hardware Haus comes under the CPL group of companies and Vinod Patel Group in Fiji.
Hardware Haus, PNG’s biggest hardware chain has opened the nation’s first do-it-yourself concept store at the new Waigani Central Complex. The storeroom is approximately 3,000 square meters, with wide and spacious aisles that stock hardware and home equipment from furniture to kitchen needs and garden tools.
Aptly titled Haus Depot, it is a revolutionary project costing CPL and its shareholders over K7 million.
The opening of the depot has seen the creation of more than a hundred jobs, 50% of which were given to women.
In this economic time that has resulted in the depreciation of the kina, the stores management team hopes Haus Depot will supply homeowners with easy to assemble hardware and home improvement products, which will allow them to experiment and create whilst also educating said customers on the use of tools, as well as fixing and plumbing for customers.
