Gurias Win Inaugural Cup Championship

The Agmark Gurias have stamped their mark in the inaugural Melanesian Club Cup Championship overnight in Port Moresby, thrashing the Sabeto Roosters, 42-points to 2.

It was a first, for both teams, to play under stadium lights at a venue.

While the turn wasn’t to full capacity the atmosphere was tense on the field, with both teams keeping their game plans and nerves to heart.

The first half kicked off with much anticipation. Both teams were unsuccessful in converting a penalty.

However, that didn’t hinder the Gurias, as they sent Pidi Tongap over the line and with a successful conversion by Jason Missian, the Gurias took the lead.

The boys from Nadi, came back with a successful penalty shot to add points to the board.

The Gurias then sent Emmanuel John and Konnie Bernard over the line with successful conversions by Jason Missian to extend their lead over the Sabeto Roosters,

By Half time, Roosters trailed by a margin, Gurias 32-2 Roosters.

The Gurias continued their try scoring run, sending Edward Goma to get a hat trick, Konnie Bernard and Jason Missian over the line. With Missian falling short of three unsuccessful conversions.

But, it was a show stopper on the 80th minute, after Edward Goma gets his third try for the night under the posts. Pidi Tongap;s successful conversion sealed the match with a 42-2 win over the Sabeto Roosters.
