Gun Smuggling Case Deferred

The Indonesian Japanese man Yoshi Ikeda; who accused of smuggling firearms into PNG has had his case adjourned to October 13th.

The court resumed at 1 pm yesterday afternoon after it was adjourned on Wednesday.

 

Yoshi Ikeda’s lawyers questioned the validity of the import documents and asked Magistrate Jeremiah Singomat to allow for a court submission.

 

Magistrate Singomat after assessing the submission yesterday accepted the evidence has court exhibits.

 

The Lae district court heard that, on March 2012, Yoshi Ikeda, an employer of KK Kingston smuggled into PNG four pistols and 19 fully loaded magazines.

 

The case was brought before the court on Monday this week for the first time since 2012.

 

The evidence had become court evidence and will be used against Yoshi when the court resumes on October 13th.
