Gulf IDG Presentation Deferred

By Jack Lapauve Jr, EMTV – Port Moresby

The presentation of infrastructure development grants for the Gulf provincial government in the LBSA and UBSA agreement was deferred today.

National Planning and Monitoring Minister Charles Abel says there needs to be more liaising within stakeholders regarding the grants.

The Minister called off the presentation and MOU signing at the parliament’s state function room this afternoon after parliament session.

Minister Abel says the government wants to identify details of projects and not just present cheques to parties and signing MOU’s.

Abel says the government must know where money is put for development and services to the people.

Minister Abel is set to hold talks with Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill and finalised the payments before striking a memorandum of understanding.

Present for the occasion was ExxonMobil Managing Director Andrew Barry, Prime Minister Peter O&rsquO’Neill, Finance Minister James Marape and other senior cabinet ministers and leaders from the Gulf provincial government.
