By Fabian Hakalits – EMTV, Port Moresby

Minister for Education, Nick Kuman, has announced that there will be no more grade eight and 10 examinations.

It was at Karamui, in Simbu Province, that the Minister made this official announcement.

Kuman said 2015 is the final year for Grade Eight national examinations.

Grade 10 exams will be phased out in 2016, leaving the only exams being in Grade 12 that will determine their future.

The Minister said that all results will be attained through internal examinations to measure student achievements, including teachers performance in the academic year.

In the meantime, Kuman said the national government’s policy is to allow every child to continue their education from elementary all the way to Grade 12.

All local MP’s have been allocated K1.5 million each, that should be used to build capacity.

Kuman said that the national government will continue to support the education sector.
