Governor General Sworn In Two Members of IPPCC

The Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae has sworn in two members of the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates Commission.

Ms. Theresa Jaintong, OBE and Rev. Roger Joseph were sworn in today (09 August 2018) in a ceremony held at the Government House.

Ms. Jaintong and Rev. Joseph were nominated by their respective organisations to be their representatives in the Commission.

Both their appointment as members representing their respective organisations to the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates Commission was in accordance with the Organic Law on the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates.

The positions became vacant following the death of the Churches Representative and the resignation of the Women’s Representative.

They now joined the other members of the Political Parties and Candidates Commission as;

  • Ms. Theresa Jaintong, OBE representing the National Council of Women; and
  • Rev. Roger Joseph representing PNG Council of Churches.

Other members of the Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates Commission are:

  • The Clerk of Parliament, ex officio;
  • The Electoral Commissioner, ex officio;
  • The Registrar, ex officio;
  • The Chairman of National Fiscal & Economic Commission, ex officio;
