Government asked to Link LNG Provinces by Road

Resource owners fromthe Southern Highlands Province want government to linkthe LNG provinces by road.

They saidthe Kiam Beina road isthe solution.

 

The Kaiam Beina road is situated betweenthe Southern Highlands and Gulf Provinces.

 

This insignificant road when developed will becomethe economic corridor for the people for these two provinces.

 

The LNG developer ExxonMobil recently announced thatthe project is 90% complete.

 

The ther two proposed LNG projects are inthe Gulf and Western Provinces.

 

Mr. Kapau said road infrastructure proposed to linkthese key provinces will significantly benefitthe governmentodevelopers andthe people inthe long run.

 

He added thatthese projects were all part ofthe Kokopo Umbrella Benefit Sharing Agreementoandthe Gobe Licence Besed Benefit Sharing Agreement.

 

He urged government to be fair in distributing impact projects inthe project impacted areas.

The Prime Minister is soon to launchthe Kiam – Simberigi – Erave Road inthe PDL 3 and 4 areas.

 

Following this launch, hopes are high thers will be launched as well inthe ther provinces.

The Kiam Beina road linkingthe two provinces will provide easy and affordable access to basic goods and services inthe nation’s capital.

 

 

He believes such infrastructures should be left for the people to enjoy.
