Gihoe Village in North Fly Poised for Change

By Mickey Kavera – EM TV, Port Moresby

A village in the Ningrum local level government (LLG), in the North Fly District of Western Province will soon benefit from government services.

Gihoe Village has missed out these vital services of health and education for years.

Recently, member for North Fly District, Boka Kondra officially declared Gihoe a separate village from the main village of Mimigere.

The villagers feel they have not benefited from the mine and government services, whilst they have been part of Mimigere Village.

To ensure that services are brought into the area, the Fly River Provincial Government allocated a sum of K86,000 for road works to begin in the area.

MP Boka Kondra did the ground breaking of the project and called on the people to cooperate to see the road completed.

“Development has started but I want you all to cooperate to drive development in your area”.

Kondra will present the village plan to the National Executive Council to have it gazetted and recognised as a new village in the North Fly District.
