Gibson Arrested Over Paul Paraka Saga

Former Finance Secretary, Steven Gibson, has been arrested for conspiracy to defraud, abuse of office and misappropriation for his part in paying Paul Paraka Lawyers K80 million.

Mr. Gibson was questioned at the Police headquarters in Konedobu before he was locked up at the Boroko Police station.

The ongoing investigation by the Task Force Sweep team has established that the alleged letter bearing the signature of the Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill was not from the prime minister.

The Sweep team today released a brief on the findings stating that the alleged letter did not originate from the PM’s office.

Ministers Don Polye and James Marape appear to make reference to the alleged letter but none of them had officially written to the PM.

Mr. Gibson and Jacob Yafai have been charged, and others will be called in soon.

Investigations are continuing.
