The New Year celebrations brought excitement and happiness however, for Gerehu Stage 1 and 3 residents, frustration is building as rubbish mounts in front of their yards.

In parts of the Gerehu stage 3, residents have not seen the rubbish truck for over 8 weeks.

Residents say bad odor from exposed garbage during night hours worsens and the rubbish keeps stacking up as contractors prolong the removal of rubbish.

Residents are calling upon the NCD Waste Management Department to respond and assign contractors responsible to commence their duty.

Meanwhile Rainbow vendors expressed disappointment over the city’s management in cleaning and maintaining markets like Rainbow and Malaoro.
