Gerehu Residence on Fire

By Louisah Frank – EMTV News, Port Moresby

A house in Gerehu Stage 2, in the National Capital District, went up in flames last night.

The fire claimed no lives or casualties; however, everything in the house was razed to the ground.

It was around 7:30 last night when a house in Gerehu Stage 2 went up in flames.

Joseph Sa’a, the owner of the house said there was no one in the house at the time of the fire; however all their belongings were burnt to ashes with the house.

The fire service got to the site in time but there was very little they could do to save the building.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, and many claim it was because of an electrical fault.

Iga Charlie, an eye witness from across the street, claim the fire started from the master bedroom and made its way to the living room and the entire house.

The house burnt down in flames within minutes.

Sa’a said he has been living in that house for more than 20 years and was devastated when he lost all that he and his family have come to build.

He and his family are appealing to the general public, their family and wantoks to assist them in any way possible as they have lost all in the fire.
