Former Lands Secretary Kila Pat’s Corruption Case Dismissed

Former Department of Lands and Physical Planning Secretary Romily Kila Pat misappropriation case was dismissed by the National Court today.

It was alleged that on the 3rd of September 2015, Kila Pat had misappropriated a sum of over K200,000 of public funds from the Department of Lands and Physical Planning.

The court heard that Kila Pat conspired with two senior Lands officers to facilitate the withdrawal of this money, from the department’s Land Reform Program Trust Account.

The money was later paid as Workshop bills to Bola Motors.

Kila Pat was arrested and charged under section 16(2) of the Public finance Management Act for one count of conspiracy and misappropriation.

After 2 years of fighting legal battle, the National Court dismissed the case based on insufficient evidences.

Speaking to EMTV this afternoon he said the court has made the decision today to have the matter dismissed based on evidences.

“It’s been a very long time since last year almost 1 year and two months and it finally come to an end,” he said.

I’m really stressed and have to meet with my families to live a normal life,” he added.
