The Football Federation of Papua New Guinea has announced its upcoming competition schedule for the year.
Having formerly launched their association only two weeks ago, FFPNG has gone ahead with its new calendar for the year, with a number of tournaments scheduled in, will begin with a men’s and women’s 7-a-side competition.
The aim is to use an existing base of players and clubs across both cities of Lae and Port Moresby, building up from a small-sided tournament, and eventually graduating to the National Premier League.
Among a number of items on the agenda for the newly formed FFPNG, was the announcement of the expression of interest forms for their inaugural National Premier League with a number of former NSL clubs already putting their hands up to be on board.
The National Premier League to be held later on in the year, and following that, will be an inter-association and provincial tournament, called the Battle Of Conference, pitting each of FFPNGs regional sides against each other.
Meanwhile, Senior Vice President, Roy Kamen, who heads the Lae Football Association, was quick to point out the associations standpoint on recent media reports, regarding their allegiance to FFPNG.
The Launch of the National Premier League will be at the end of this month.
