Fly students to get TVET skills in Australia

Students from Western Province will receive scholarships each year from 2013 to 2016 for skills training in Australia as part ofthe Technical Vocational Education and Training Skills Scholarship Program.

These students’will be automatically recruited by OTML afterthe completion oftheir training throughthe company’s apprenticeship program.

This was made possible withthe signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between OTML,the Fly River Provincial Government andthe Office of High Education.

OHE Director General Prof David Kavanamur commended OTML andthe Fly River Provincial Government for taking this approach.

Minister for Higher Education David Arore’saidthe signing marked a new era inthe higher education sector and was in line withthe government’s strategy to bring government’services tothe districts and provinces.

He stressedthe importance of quality and asked OTML and FRPG to getthe best students’when doingtheir selections.

Managing Director of OTML Nigel Parker said OTML was committed tothe Prime Minister’s directions on developingthe country’s human resource and commendedthe government for the TVET program.
