The first lot of relief supplies for flood victims in Finschhafen was ferried from Lae to the affected area by the Morobe Disaster Office.
The supplies were accompanied by community representatives and the Fincshhafen District Development Authority CEO.
By noon, a dinghy had been packed with items that would give some relief to the disaster victims.
The contents were basic tools to help them rebuild homes after close to twenty were washed away by floods.
Nails, saws and hammers were packed along with food rations; bags of rice for quick meals and canvas for temporary shelter.
The Morobe Provincial Disaster Office has come under fire, but it has utlilized its boats to carry the supplies to Finschhafen.
Morobe has been affected by floods and landslips in the last three weeks and the disaster office is stretched to its limits.
