A post mortem of the Pacific Games has already begun, with participating countries evaluating the performances of their athletes.

Fiji Chef de Mission, Cathy Wong, says the inclusion of Australia and New Zealand at the Games should not be an excuse for Pacific Island countries not winning medals.

While Papua New Guinea has been celebrating as the top medalling nation of the XV Pacific Games, Fiji will be conducting an analysis of its performance.

Having finished 3rd at the 2011 Games in Noumea, the Fijians arrived here full of confidence.

Team Fiji returned home this time in 4th place, having finished behind New Caledonia and French Polynesia.

She said the onus was on sporting organisations to strategise for better results in the next Pacific Games.
