Fiji Prioritizes Sports

Sports alone generates one third of remittent for the Fiji Government. This was revealed by Fiji Youth and Sports Minister Viliame Naupoto and has been categorized as one of its priority areas.

The evolution in sports is that it has become a career that people can now actually earn money and make a living.

Fiji Youth and Sports Minister Viliame Naupoto shared these sentiMen’s stating that part of the country’s revenue is also generated from citizens representing the country in sporting codes overseas.

That is exactly one third of the government’s remittent is from sports alone.

Sports is not only used as a development tool but also for nation building and to develop young people’s characteristics.

Such initiatives encourage youths to participate meaningfully, living trouble free lives.

Fiji is competing again in this year’s Commonwealth Games at Glasgow, Scotland. We also look forward to their participation in next year’s 2015 Pacific Games.
