New Fiji High Commissioner

His Excellency Grand Chief Sir Micheal Ogio, Governor General of Papua New Guinea received Letters of Credence from the new High Commissioner of Republic of Fiji to Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Mr. Romanu Tikotikoca, at Government House, yesterday morning.

In a brief ceremony, Grand Chief Sir Micheal said, the appointment of Mr. Tikokoca demonstrates the close relations that exist between the two countries as Melanesian brothers in the Pacific region.

 

Grand Chief Sir Micheal Somare said, PNG is encouraged by moves currently undertaken by the Fijian government towards restoring constitutional and parliamentary democracy in their country and he expressed his desire to see democracy restored in Fiji, and the Fijian High Commissioner that PNG stands ready to assist Fiji towards this endeavor.
