Farming PNG – Season 2 Finale

The 6th and final episode of Farming PNG marks the end of the second season of a series of documentaries that shed light on the country’s agriculture sector.

To mark this milestone, we invited in studio the Governor of the East Sepik Province, Allan Bird, the European Ambassador to PNG, Ioannis Giogkarakis Argyropoulos and Steve Woodhouse, the presenter of the show, to discuss some of the latest developments in a sector that truly tests in the earths and minds of nearly every Papua New Guineans. The European Union has in fact committed to invest over 85 million euros over the next 5 years to overhaul the country’s agriculture sector, starting from The East Sepik Province.

“ We will adopt a holistic approach,” said the European Union Ambassador, hinting to the fact that the whole value chain of a number of crops will be taken to the next level.

“ For years the development of the agriculture sector had been driven by officials in Port Moresby,” said Allan Bird “but it is time to take resources and development straight to the provinces instead”, he continued.
