Reports of declining oral and written English in schools around Papua New Guinea have prompted the implementation of English language training by a school in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville.
Beth Christian Academy located in Arawa Town, Central Bougainville, has adopted the policy of facilitating, teaching and learning in English.
Established in 2014 through the support of locals and parents, enrolments are currently at 48 students, with the program organized by five teachers.
It uses the American Accelerated Christian Education Curriculum.
According to Principal, Fridah Buibui, it was her dream to start a school because she was concerned about education and the importance of teaching English.
Students enrol from Pre-School to Grade Six, with the objective to improve standards of teaching and learning.
Buibui said that the word of God is the focus when delivering quality education and training
Plans are underway to expand the school and Buibui has called on interested teachers who have the passion to contact this email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
