Enga Province Pays Airfare Subsidies

By Stanley Ove Jr – EM TV News, Port Moresby

The Enga Provincial Government has paid Link PNG a subsidy in full, in order to allow for the people of his province to travel more freely by air.

Enga Governor, Sir Peter Ipatas, when presenting the funds said the subsidy will provide a convenient service for people in Enga travelling by air to and from the province.

“Enga Provincial Government is committed to develop airline service in and out of Enga Province,” Governor Ipatas said.

The Governor presented a cheque of K700,000, which was initially for last year’s subsidy, which adds the total subsidy to K1 million for this year.

Governor Ipatas said Link PNG is providing a vital service and is saving his people the extra cost of travelling to Mt Hagen in order to then catch a flight to Port Moresby.

“This subsidy is making money for the Province, because our people are saving their money by travelling out from Wapenanamanda instead of Mt Hagen,” Ipatas said.
