Emstret School Challenge Continues

The Emstret School Challenge continues in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

The program comprises of debating challenges, a poetry slam for secondary and high schools, and a spelling bee for the primary school level.

Yesterday’s elimination round of debates saw Jubilee Catholic Secondary School and Port Moresby International School advance to the Grand Final.

The spelling bee challenge will be staged after the debating Grand Final on Monday 5th September 2016.

Officiated by Emstret Holdings Limited, the Emstret School Challenge began on Monday with the debate challenges on topics focusing on the United Nations development goals.

Yesterday’s elimination rounds saw Jubilee Catholic  Secondary School challenge Marianville Secondary School.

In the second elimination round, Koiari Park Adventist High School, a first time contender and the only High School participating, challenged Port Moresby International School.

The winning team in the grand final round will represent Papua New Guinea in the Melanesian Debate Championships to be staged in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

Program Founder and Director, Vani Nades, shared with EMTV News that despite challenges faced in running the program due to limited funding, she persists with passion as she has since the previously known IBS interschool debates.

As this is a pilot program for Emstret Holdings, Nades looks forward to expanding and including more schools in the nation’s capital as well as other provinces.
