Electrical Company’s Units Up in Flames

The residential units of Electrical company, Eltech, went up in flames today in the nation’s capital.

Black smoke could be seen from the Boroko business area.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established, however, there were no casualties.

Waigani Fire Services were first to arrive at the scene, but were unable to save the property.

This property is the sixth that has been destroyed by fire in the last two months.

The fire is believed to have started at midday today, and fire fighters on the scene could not save the units.

A second fire truck all the way from Gerehu had to be summoned, and managed to contain the fire from reaching vehicles and other equipment around the burning units.

Waigani Fire Station Commander, Arifeae Farapo, was satisfied with the work of the firemen who responded to the call, because they were able to contain the fire before it caught on to nearby homes.

Meanwhile, the Boroko Fire Truck is still out of service, and any fires in the area will be responded to by fire trucks from Waigani and Gerehu.
