Electoral Commissioner: 10,978 polling areas

The Electoral Commission will beginning the mammoth job of conducting the polling in 10,798 polling areas in the country with 4,800 electoral officers from 24th of June to the 8th of July

Speaking after the third inter-departmental committee meeting Electoral Commissioner, Patilias Gamato, said the commission is awaiting final election items to reach PNG shores before the commission is fully set for polling and counting.

Gamato says that for polling, largely populated areas will have one-day polling while for rural areas will have multiple days of polling.

As for the common roll, the Electoral Commissioner has advised that the common roll is in its final stage of being updated.
