Ela Motors have introduced two new products into the transport market in Papua New Guinea, the Yamaha Wave Runner and the Toyota LJ Cruiser.
Both products were officially launched in Port Moresby last night.
The Wave Runner jet ski, though a new product in PNG, has a steady demand worldwide and has already had interest directed towards it here in PNG.
The 2015 luxury performance model has three different versions, with an average fuel capacity of 70 litres.
David Tsang, National Yamaha Project Manager, said though the product targets higher income earners, Ela Motors will be trying to make these more affordable for average income earners.
“The Wave Runner is targeting higher earners but we are looking at making it more affordable for ordinary Papua New Guineans,” Tsang said.
The Wave Runner range has itself been in the country since 2010, and excitement is abuzz surrounding this latest release.
“[We’ve had] the Wave Runner sold [previously] in Port Moresby, Lae and one in Kokopo,” Tsang said.
However, this model has been customised and now weighs 21 kilograms less than the previous models.
The second product launched was the Toyota LJ Cruiser, a model that is on trial in PNG.
At tpresent, it sits amongst the top five selling Toyota vehicles in terms of their worldwide market. Ela Motors are hoping its worldwide popularity translates to the PNG market.
